Story

王wáng涛tāo有yǒu一yí个gè新xīn工gōng作zuò。今jīn天tiān是shì他tā的de第dì一yī天tiān。昨zuó天tiān晚wǎn上shàng，他tā很hěn紧jǐn张zhāng，所suǒ以yǐ睡shuì得dé不bù好hǎo。

Wang Tao has a new job. Today is his first day. Yesterday evening he was very nervous, and so he did not sleep well.

早zǎo上shàng，他tā听tīng到dào电diàn话huà的de声shēng音yīn。他tā打dǎ开kāi手shǒu机jī，看kàn到dào时shí间jiān。已yǐ经jīng八bā点diǎn了liǎo。他tā以yǐ为wéi电diàn话huà叫jiào他tā七qī点diǎn起qǐ来lái，可kě是shì他tā没méi有yǒu听tīng到dào。

In the morning, he heard the phone ring. He opened his phone and looked at the time. It was already eight. He had thought the phone would call him at seven, but he had not heard it.

He was very afraid. He knew he had to be at the company by nine. From home to the company takes one hour. So he had no time to eat anything. He took some money and went out the door.

王wáng涛tāo在zài路lù上shàng跑pǎo。他tā想xiǎng：今jīn天tiān不bù好hǎo。第dì一yī天tiān就jiù这zhè样yàng，老lǎo板bǎn会huì怎zěn么me想xiǎng？他tā一yī边biān跑pǎo一yī边biān担dān心xīn。

Wang Tao ran along the road. He thought: today is not good. The first day already like this, what will the boss think? He ran and worried at the same time.

他tā问wèn一yí个gè女nǚ人rén：请qǐng问wèn，李lǐ先xiān生shēng的de办bàn公gōng室shì在zài哪nǎ里lǐ？她tā说shuō：在zài上shàng面miàn，第dì三sān层céng。他tā说shuō：谢xiè谢xiè。然rán后hòu他tā跑pǎo到dào上shàng面miàn去qù。

He asked a woman: excuse me, where is Mr. Li's office? She said: upstairs, the third floor. He said: thank you. Then he ran upstairs.

王wáng涛tāo到dào了liǎo办bàn公gōng室shì的de门mén口kǒu。他tā的de心xīn跳tiào得dé很hěn快kuài。他tā想xiǎng：我wǒ要yào冷lěng静jìng一yì点diǎn。他tā打dǎ开kāi门mén，进jìn去qù。里lǐ面miàn有yǒu三sān个gè人rén，都dōu看kàn他tā。

一yí个gè老lǎo的de先xiān生shēng站zhàn起qǐ来lái。他tā就jiù是shì李lǐ先xiān生shēng，老lǎo板bǎn。他tā说shuō：你nǐ是shì王wáng涛tāo吗ma？王wáng涛tāo说shuō：是shì的de。对duì不bù起qǐ，我wǒ迟chí到dào了liǎo。李lǐ先xiān生shēng笑xiào了liǎo一yí下xià。他tā说shuō：没méi事shì。第dì一yī天tiān，大dà家jiā都dōu有yǒu一yì些xiē问wèn题tí。请qǐng坐zuò。

Xiao Mei gave him a computer. But the computer would not open. Wang Tao tried once, then tried again. He did not know how to use it. He was embarrassed to ask, because he thought: a problem on the first day, that is not good.

Later, Xiao Mei saw. She said: this computer is like that sometimes. You have to open it this way. She opened the computer. Wang Tao said: thank you, Xiao Hong. She laughed. She said: I am not called Xiao Hong. I am called Xiao Mei. Wang Tao's face went red. He said: sorry, sorry.

At midday, everyone went to eat together. Wang Tao thought: I am new, I should pay for everyone. He said: today I will pay. But he looked at his money and found it was not enough. He only had a little money. He was even more embarrassed.

小xiǎo美měi说shuō：没méi事shì。今jīn天tiān我wǒ们men给gěi你nǐ。你nǐ是shì新xīn来lái的de。明míng天tiān你nǐ给gěi我wǒ们men买mǎi咖kā啡fēi，可kě以yǐ吗ma？王wáng涛tāo说shuō：好hǎo，一yí定dìng。

Xiao Mei said: it is fine. Today we will pay for you. You are new. Tomorrow you buy us coffee, alright? Wang Tao said: yes, definitely.

下xià午wǔ，李lǐ先xiān生shēng给gěi王wáng涛tāo一yì些xiē事shì情qíng。他tā要yào写xiě一yì些xiē名míng字zì。王wáng涛tāo很hěn想xiǎng做zuò好hǎo，可kě是shì他tā写xiě错cuò了liǎo一yí个gè名míng字zì。李lǐ先xiān生shēng看kàn到dào，又yòu笑xiào了liǎo。他tā说shuō：没méi事shì，王wáng涛tāo。你nǐ今jīn天tiān有yǒu很hěn多duō事shì。明míng天tiān再zài做zuò一yí次cì。

In the afternoon, Mr. Li gave Wang Tao some things to do. He had to write some names. Wang Tao wanted very much to do well, but he wrote one name wrong. Mr. Li saw, and laughed again. He said: it is fine, Wang Tao. You have a lot to deal with today. Do it again tomorrow.

晚wǎn上shàng，王wáng涛tāo回huí家jiā。他tā很hěn累lèi。他tā想xiǎng：今jīn天tiān什shén么me都dōu不bù好hǎo。可kě是shì大dà家jiā对duì我wǒ很hěn好hǎo。老lǎo板bǎn对duì我wǒ很hěn好hǎo。小xiǎo美měi也yě是shì。也yě许xǔ明míng天tiān会huì好hǎo一yì点diǎn。

In the evening, Wang Tao went home. He was very tired. He thought: today nothing went well. But everyone was kind to me. The boss was kind to me. So was Xiao Mei. Perhaps tomorrow will be a little better.

他tā打dǎ开kāi门mén，进jìn了liǎo家jiā。他tā的de朋péng友yǒu打dǎ电diàn话huà。朋péng友yǒu问wèn：第dì一yī天tiān怎zěn么me样yàng？王wáng涛tāo想xiǎng了liǎo一yí下xià。他tā说shuō：不bù好hǎo，也yě好hǎo。朋péng友yǒu说shuō：什shén么me意yì思sī？王wáng涛tāo笑xiào了liǎo。他tā说shuō：明míng天tiān我wǒ告gào诉sù你nǐ。今jīn天tiān我wǒ要yào睡shuì。

He opened the door and went into his home. His friend called. The friend asked: how was the first day? Wang Tao thought for a moment. He said: not good, and also good. The friend said: what do you mean? Wang Tao laughed. He said: tomorrow I will tell you. Today I need to sleep.
