Story

Marta . , . Cercanías . . Marta .

Marta leaves work very late. She wants to go home, but it is already night. The Cercanías is today's last one. There isn't another until tomorrow. Marta doesn't have much time.

. . Marta . . . .

She moves through the city very fast. Tonight there is almost nobody around. Marta looks at the time. It is very late. She has to go faster. She is afraid she will not make it.

. . . . Marta . . : "¿ Cercanías?"

She arrives at the place. She walks towards the door. There is a man there. He is a young man. Marta does not know him. The man looks at her. He says: "Are you also taking the Cercanías?"

"," Marta. " . ." "," . " Cercanías . ."

"Yes," says Marta. "But I do not know if I will make it. It is very late." "No," says the man. "The Cercanías is not here yet. You and I are in luck."

Marta . . . . Madrid. . . , . Marta .

Marta looks at him. The man has a kind face. She thanks him. They talk a little. The man is from Madrid. He lives near her. He works in the same part of the city. It is the first time they have met, but he seems like a good sort. Marta is not so afraid any more.

" ," . " . ." Marta : " . ." . Marta , .

"I also leave work very late," says the man. "Almost every night. That is how bad life is right now." Marta says: "Well, mine too. That is why I am going so fast." The man nods. Marta says nothing more, but inside she feels fine.

. Marta . Cercanías . . , , : .

Two or three moments go by like this. Marta looks one way and the other. She wants to see the Cercanías already. The man also looks. They don't speak any more, but the two of them are here, both wanting the same thing: to go home.

Cercanías . . Marta . . : " Diego. ¿ ?"

The Cercanías arrives. The two of them get on. Marta goes to one side. The man goes to the other. But first he says: "I am Diego. And you?"

"Marta." ", Marta, ." Marta : " ." . . . Diego, . , , .

"Marta." "Well, Marta, good luck." Marta looks at him and says: "Good luck to you too." She looks out through the door. The city passes by very fast. She is going home now. She does not know Diego, but now she knows his name. And that, tonight, seems enough.
